Movin' on Up

The boys are now 8 weeks old and now have a new room to call home. On Monday they got moved to a private room which we love just as much as they do. The boys are now sharing a bed again. The room is quiet and there is a window so the boys are getting a little sunshine. Now they just need Weezie to keep it clean!

Bryce is now up to 4lbs. 3ounces and the docs have him on a high calorie diet (mom's milk plus extra calories) so he will just keep catching up to Cohen. Bryce might be having his surgery next week on Monday or Tuesday. We are nervous but hopeful that the shunt will help Bryce make his way home soon.

As for Cohen, he weighs 5lbs. 8 ounces and is tube free (no oxygen or feeding tube). He now feeds just from a bottle and could be going home in a week or so. I think he likes it at the hospital with his brother because he will act up every so often.

What sweet little angels...looks like Cohen is whispering to Bryce in the last picture... "act like we're sleeping, maybe they won't bother us!!"

Hi guys! That is wonderful news. I am so happy that the boys are doing well. I caught up today on all the news. They both look so cute. Stay strong and keep the faith! You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so excited that today is a big day for Bryce, that he is able to get his surgery. Im glad mom and I got to come visit yesterday. Im praying for you guys today, I know youre nervous but it will all be ok, hes a lil fighter. Im 2 floors away if you need anything just call. Love you guys. ----Francine

From the beginning...

On January 5, 2009 we found out we were having twins!!! We were so excited and never dreamed that we would have any problems getting them here. All we could think about was how special it would be to bring two little ones into this world at one time.

It was a few weeks later that we found out there were issues with the pregnancy. It appeared that the twins had Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS), but after several tests it was found that there was a growth discordance in the twins. Baby A (Cohen) had more placental share that Baby B (Bryce). After finding this out I was put on full bed rest at home. We had ultrasounds every other week to check the babies growth. It was a constant worry whether the babies would make it.

At 20 weeks I would be admitted into Good Sam Hospital with pre-term labor complications. Those complications would turn into cervical length problems and from there a one night stay turned into 54 days of trying not to go absolutely insane. Each week we would have a new scare. I became very ill with blood poisoning and there was a fear that the infection got to the babies, luckily it did not. I also had daily contractions, some days more than others and began dialating. I developed gestational diabetes, only after passing the glucose test a week before.

At 28 weeks (and one day) real labor set in and I gave birth to two very small but very beautiful boys - Cohen Matthew and Bryce Anthony. This is their story...
